Britain’s cold snap could lead sparks desire to head down under
A new survey has revealed that as many as one in three Brits would like to move abroad during the next decade. There has been an increasing trend over recent years to up sticks and swap the changeable weather of the UK for sun, sea and sand in countries such as Australia and New Zealand. And it appears the snow and ice which plagued Britain during the start of January has only served to bring more people around to the idea of starting a new life abroad.
Intotheblue.co.uk surveyed a total of 1,682 people about their plans for the next decade. Of the 34 per who said they were keen to kiss goodbye to Blighty, 61 per cent said it was down to the way the country was being run, while 86 per cent of people said they'd pick a warm climate to move to.
Rob Holmes, e-commerce and marketing manager at Intotheblue, said in spite of the figures thrown up by the survey, he doesn't expect a mass exodus from the United Kingdom.
He said: 'In all honesty I think there is a higher chance that 17 per cent of the population will be moon walking courtesy of Richard Branson than a third of the population will emigrate come 2020.'
